Delvin D’antontie “Duke” Whitaker, Jr. was born on August 11, 2000 to Angelia Sullivan and Steven McQuirter in Zachary, LA. “Duke” departed this life on Sunday, April 12, 2026.
God placed two men in Duke’s life as a child to help rear him into adulthood, Delvin Whitaker, Sr. and Leo Dunn, Jr.
Delvin was baptized on June 8, 2007 at Afton Villa Baptist Church by Dr. Lionel Davis. He later became a member of Kingsford Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Allen Handy.
Duke was a graduate of East Feliciana High School, Class of 2019.
Delvin enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved spending time with his family and was always the life of the party. His girls were his world and he loved his community so much that he nicknamed himself “Big Solitude”.
Delvin will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He leaves to cherish his memories, his daughters, Demi and Myla Whitaker, parents, Angelia Sullivan and Steven McQuirter, siblings, Aaliyah Sullivan (Albert Carter), Nathan Sullivan, Da’Quesha (D’ontre) Trask, Trevor Rayford, Stevieon McQuirter, Azareon Jarvis, Star and Sky McQuirter; La’Terrika, Darius, and Delvin “Lip” Whitaker, 28 step-siblings, and fiancé Precious Hill.
Duke also leaves his grandparents, Nathaniel and Ethel Whitfield, Ella McDonald, Ennis Whitaker, Freddie and Martha Payne, and Leroy and Bobbie Dunn. Godparents, Herbert and Cheryl Whitfield, three god sisters, aunts Tywanda (Michael) Barrow, Yolanda, Chiquita (Timothy) McQuirter, Areatha Vessel, Stacy (Damon) Turner, Mecher McQuirter, Jackolyn Cornish, and Jennifer Peterson, two uncles, D’Wayne (Karen) Vessel and Andrew Malbrough, a special cousin, Pashen Barrow, three nieces, two nephews, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Delvin is preceded in death by his daughter, Marlei Whitaker, brother Treylen Carter, and grandfather, Willie McDonald.
