Derrick A. Wells, Sr. was born on Monday, May 10, 1971 to the late Ms. Eliza A. Wells and Mr. Monroe Stine.
A Time to Live:
At an early age, he accepted Christ as his personal Savior under the leadership of the late Rev. Robert Strickland at Morning Star Baptist Church.
A Time to Learn:
Derrick was educated in the Wilkinson County School District and throughout the years, he was employed by Schuylkill Metals Corporation in Baton Rouge, LA. Derrick dedicated most of his time caring for his grandchildren. Derrick loved and enjoyed life, making people laugh, but most of all, he loved his family.
A Time to Depart This Earthly World:
On Friday, May 22, 2026, Derrick entered eternal rest at Lane Regional Medical Center in Zachary, LA. Derrick leaves behind broken hearts to cherish his memories: a special friend, La Crystal Lanus; daughters, ShaTia Hall of Memphis, TN, Saniya Veals of Woodville, MS, and Shemeka Carmenia of Baton Rouge, LA; sons, Brandon Brackens of Cypress, TX, Brieon Lee of St. Francisville, LA, and Treveion Veals of Woodville, MS; grandchildren, Aubree Reyes, Da’Mir Duncan, DeMarcus Washington, Jr., and Zion Carmenia; sisters, Patricia Wells, Edna Stine, and Mary Wells of Woodville, MS, Angela Stine of Nashville, TN and Torri Pinto of Sorrento, LA; brothers, Johnny Wells and Charles Wells of Woodville, MS, and Monroe Stamps of New Orleans, LA; Godfather, Rev. Tyser Brown, Sr.; godsons, Vonterius Thompson and Freddie Byrd, III; special sisters, Alicia Packnett, Melisa McMorris, and Yolanda Byrd; special brothers, Allen Henyard, Freddie Byrd, II, Warren Packnett and James “PJ” Packnett, Jr. and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
