Diann McClain

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. II Timothy 4:7

Diann Brown McClain, the fourth born child of the late Isaac and Mae W. Brown, was born November 4, 1953, in Gloster, MS. On September 25, 2025, at the age of 71, she transitioned to eternal rest at Our Lady of Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge, LA.

Diann accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized at Big Antioch Baptist Church in Gloster, MS. She later became a faithful member of Sharon Chapel C.M.E. in Gloster, MS, where she served until she was called to be with the Lord.

Diann graduated in 1971 from Gloster Attendance Center. After graduation she was united in holy matrimony to Aurelious McClain and was a devoted wife until his passing in 1985. Diann was blessed with a loving son, Michael and a devoted daughter, Jasmine, whom she raised with the help of her mother. And she was affectionately called Ma by her four beautiful grandchildren.

Diann began her dedication to nurturing and shaping young lives during her employment at Damascus Head Start Center. She eventually opened her home to children as an In-home Childcare Provider, serving her community in this respect for more than 40 years. In her home, children and their parents were provided with a safe and loving environment.

Diann’s gentle spirit, patience, and firm yet kind guidance was essential in raising generations of young people, in which she instilled in them good values, character and love for family. She was also a second mother to her nieces, nephews and a countless number of children and young adults throughout her community. Diann’s home was more than a place of care, it was a safe haven filled with laughter, discipline, encouragement, and unconditional love. Her legacy will forever live on in the countless lives she touched.

Diann leaves to cherish her special memories, one son Michael McClain, Sr. (Cassandra); one daughter Jasmine McClain; two step children, Angela Davis and Aurelious Davis; four sisters: Mattie Monroe, Augustine Brown, Teria Porter, and Rosa Brown (Roddis); one brother Harry Brown (Alice); four grandchildren: Darian McClain, Jordan McClain, Michael McClain, Jr. and Ebonie McClain; three sisters in-law: Helen Walker, Gloria McClain, and Joyce McKnight; two aunts: Mammie Lee Brown and Winnie Brown; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Diann was preceded in death by her parents, Isaac and Mae W Brown; her husband, Aurelious McClain; three brothers: McArthur McKnight, Jackie Brown, and Donald McKnight.
