In Loving Memory of Sister Ella Mae Jackson

Sister Ella Mae Jackson was born on Monday, July 18, 1949, in Centreville, Mississippi, to the late Idella and Jessie Woodside Sr. She departed this earthly life on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Pearland, Texas.

Sister Jackson accepted Christ at an early age and joined Snow Hill Baptist Church in Centreville, Mississippi, where she remained a faithful member until her passing.

Sister Jackson was a hardworking and devoted woman who touched the lives of many throughout her lifetime. She worked for White Fleet Cab Company in New Orleans, Louisiana, for 10 years. She was also a proud business owner and owned and operated Silver Dollar Pool Hall in Centreville, Mississippi, for more than 20 years.

Sister Jackson leaves to cherish her precious memories four sons: Gus (Torie) Young of Riverdale, Georgia; Thomas Young of New Orleans, Louisiana; Franklin Young of Fresno, Texas; and Lloyd Young of Centreville, Mississippi; she also leaves four daughters: Jerry Young of New Orleans, Louisiana; Shantell (George) Simmons of Houston, Texas; Jerrica Brown of Houston, Texas; and Tiffany Jackson of Tomball, Texas; seven sisters: Annie (Willie) James; Minnie Pearl Woodside; Georgia (Charlie) Lee; Crystine (Joe) Washington; Letha (Nathaniel) Bradley, all of Centreville, Mississippi; Diane (Clemon) Causey of Houston, Texas; and Rosie Mary Woodside of New Orleans, Louisiana; three brothers: Samuel Woodside of New Orleans, Louisiana; Jessie Woodside Jr.; and Lawrence Woodside, both of Centreville, Mississippi; grandchildren: Latayna Young, Disheka Young, Rodney James, Shiena Young, Shiera Young, Gortavion Simmons, George Simmons Jr., Janaee Shakur, Franklin Young Jr., Kendranieceia Turner, Roneka James, Jozyirah Smith, Jimmie Jackson, Ladarrius Jackson, Harmonie Smith, Sincere Smith, Royal Smith, Jamarion Smith, Chozen Brown, Island Brown, JerNyiah Palmore, McArthur Palmore Jr., Jamorris Young, Ariyana Young, Jaquavis Young, Ke’Jyrien Young, Ke’Tayvien Young, Traderrius Parker, Terry Anderson, Tykira Anderson, Layla Anderson, Taleah Anderson, Khaleesi Anderson, Torien Young, Zacardi Young, Lartavius Young, Lloyd Young Jr, Lloyd Young; She leaves special great-grandchildren from her granddaughter she reared: Fredrick Scott Jr., Diamonicia Young, Amoni Young, Jayden Spurlock; She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, acquaintances, and many friends who will forever cherish the memories they shared with her.

Sister Ella Mae Jackson was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Idella and Jessie Woodside Sr.; her brothers, Joe Woodside and James Woodside; her sisters, Bulah Boss, Janie Mae Causey, and Jessie Mae Shorts; her sons, Billy Earl Young and Jerome Young; and her daughter, Doris Ann Young.

Though she has departed this earthly life, the love she gave, the lives she touched, and the legacy she leaves behind will continue to live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, family, and friends.

She will be deeply loved, forever missed, and always remembered.
