On Sunday, October 4, 2026, Emma Bailey Allen passed away from this life and went home to be with the Lord. Emma confessed Christ and was baptized at an early age at Evening Star Baptist Church in Woodville, MS. Emma was born on August 13, 1949, to Dorothy and Louis Bailey, Sr.
Emma was self-employed as a licensed cosmetologist for many years and ran a successful business from her home. She was married to Mackie Allen for 20 years, and to this union, one son was born, Derrick Shamann Allen. She was also the loving mother of Raven Janelle Bailey by God's loving and eternal plans. She was a fun and loving auntie to a host of nieces and nephews.
She was known for her stylish, classic beauty and fashion sense. She knew how to make you look good from head to toe. Her kindness and generosity were contagious. When she got together with her sisters, it was just a house full of life and laughter. They sounded like a bunch of cackling hens when they were all laughing and cutting up together. She was a firm believer in family and showed up wherever and whenever she was needed. She showed her love through her presence. She served through the ministry of music, and she loved to sing. She was an active member of the Coleman Gospel singers for many years.
She leaves to mourn one son, Derrick (Tabbatha) Allen, Baton Rouge; one daughter, Raven Bailey; one grandson, Samuel Allen; one granddaughter, Kamari Bailey; one brother, Larry (Frances) Bailey, Woodville, MS; one sister, Myrtis Woodside, Baton Rouge, LA; one godson, Christian Cager; aunts, Frances Alexander, Woodville, MS, Kitty Hollins, Thomas Ann Hollins, Margaret Hollins, Mamie Hollins, and Linda Hollins, all of Baton Rouge, LA; one uncle, Huey Hollins, of New Orleans, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis, Sr. and Dorothy Bailey; seven siblings, Fannie Harrell, Nancy Turner, Barbara Combs, Vanessa Bailey, Louis Bailey, Jr., Thomas Bailey, and Kenneth Bailey; grandparents, Sylvia Hunter and Tom Hollins, Louella and Joseph Coleman; three nieces, Tamica Combs, Ursula Bailey, and Tierra Bailey; one goddaughter/great-niece, Darylynn Bailey; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
