Jason Elliott James

“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance.” Ecclesiastes 3:1 – 4

Jason Elliott James was born at Field Memorial Hospital in Centreville, Mississippi to Cynthia K. James. He was adopted by his grandparents, the late Oliver, Sr. and Martha Dorsey James, and raised in Woodville, Mississippi. He was educated in the Wilkinson County School District and later attended Alcorn State University and Southwest Mississippi Community College. Jason excelled in sports throughout his academic career and was well known in the local area as a talented football player. His hobbies were hunting and spending time with family, especially his three sons. He worked as a Truck Driver for over 20 years for various companies, most recently being employed by Usalco. He confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized by the late Reverend Wilson Ford at King Emmanuel Baptist Church. Jason passed on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at his home, surrounded by his family.

Left to cherish his memories are his fiancé, Anna Maria Haney; three sons, Jason Oliver Roosevelt James, Austin Jimi James, and Maurice Edward James; his mothers, Martha Dorsey James and Cynthia James-Williams; six sisters, Monica James Sprull, Wevlyn James, Wanda James, Carola (Kennith) James Anderson, Celena (Darryl) James Cage and Ingrid James; three brothers, James C. Miley, Brandon Williams and Alexander Williams; two children who he was rearing as his own, Madisyn and Edmond Haney; one niece; five nephews; six great nieces; two great nephews; one great uncle; four great aunts; and a host of other relatives, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Oliver James, Sr.; his brother, Oliver James, Jr.; one son, Jason Elliott James, Jr.; his paternal grandparents, Jimmie and Lottie Davis James; his maternal grandparents, Edward and Maxine Anthony Dorsey; and a great niece, Erin Yvette Anderson.

The one I love can never be destroyed and is never taken from me; Yet, must be freed to God’s eternal experience. I release the one I love to life that never dies. I bless him on his onward journey. I know that he is never far from me and that nothing can separate us in the eternal plan.

And so it is!
