Sammie Roy Anderson Jr., known by family as friends as “Peanut”, was born in Centreville, MS on January 19, 1987, to Darlene Collins and Sammie R. Anderson of Gloster, MS. Sammie graduated from life on earth to eternity in heaven on February 11, 2026.
Sammie was educated in the Amite County school system, where he was active in JROTC and the band.
Sammie’s passion for music began at the age of two. He confessed Christ at an early age and joined the Spring Hill Baptist Church, under the pastorage of Rev. Londia C. Weatherspoon. As a member of the choir, his favorite song was “Jesus is a Rock”. He expanded his musical portfolio as a drummer, which resulted in him being the firstdrummer for Spring Hill. Sammie involved himself an “all things that put his boots on the grounds, his hands to the proverbial plow, and positively impacting people in the community”, especially his grandparents and great-grandparents and neighbors. He was active with the Junior Police and the Palace of Children.
Over the years, Sammie worked in a variety of spaces throughout Mississippi, Louisiana, and Tennessee. Some of the places that he worked included the Town of Gloster, FedEx, Lofton Security, Anderson Funeral Home, Marshall Funeral Home, Volunteer Fire Department, Gloster Feed & Seed, R.E. Smith, Sam Marbury and Maverick Health, and Claiborne County Clinical Health. Throughout the years, he has been a musician at Spring Hill B.C., Star Hill C.M.E., Winan Chapel C.M.E., Oak Grove Perrytown , Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ; and performed with the following groups---Fayette Spiritual Aires, Odell Rodgers & New Generations, Preston Robinson & Men of God, Leo Walls & The Free Spirits, The Golden Eagles, the Veal Brothers, and the Traveling Angels.
Sammie Anderson and Theresa Smith were joined in holy matrimony on July 18, 2009. To this union, two children were born.
Sammie was preceded in death by grandparents---Vera Collins, James Snowden, Jr., Martha Anderson, Rev. Londia C. Weatherspoon, and Curtis Dickens.
He leaves to mourn his passing--- a devoted wife, Theresa Anderson; two daughters – SaMiyah and Reignah; loving parents Darlene & Jerry Dickens; three sisters---Velicia, La’Sonja, and Jermeaka; one brother, Roderick Taplin; grandparents---Matthew Collins, Louise Snowden, Edna Weatherspoon (Baton Rouge, LA), and Ruthie Dickens (Crosby, MS); father-in-law and mother-in-law, Casey and Peggy Smith, respectively; special aunt/mama?—Carolyn Catchings; godparents—Dr. Gerald L. R. Weatherspoon (Glenn Dale, MD) and Sylvia A. Hughes (Liberty, MS); god siblings, Brandon Collins and Crystal Causey; a sister-in-law, Audrey Smith; a brother-in-law, Casey Smith; dear friend and mentor, Minister Dennis Bonds (Jackson, MS); and a host of cousins, other relatives, friends and community members.
