Yvonne S. Turner

“For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.” 2 Corinthians 5:1

Mother Yvonne Turner was born September 18, 1957, to the late Lucille Turner Oubre and Prince Albert Wilson. She was baptized at an early age at Embrew Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Samuel Hiles. Where she faithfully served on the deaconess board, Sunday school, and wherever she was needed at the church.

She graduated from the Wilkinson County Training School in 1975. She helped many during her 30 plus years serving as the Director of Wilkinson Community Action Agency.

On June 21, 1975, she married the love of her life, Carroll F. Smith. To this union a beautiful daughter was born, Carol Smith Long. Later on in life, she was blessed with her son, Emontrae Thompson, with Sylvester Thompson. She also raised 2 other children: Chantal Thompson and Durlentren Thompson.

Mother Turner loved her family and loved to cook and entertain family & friends. To know her was to love her. One thing we can’t forget is her signature red lip stick. She will be truly missed in the community.
